Door size calculations

Door sizes are calculated from the selected hinge system and the actual opening condition. The clearances needed for top-and-bottom pivots differ from those needed for wall-mount hinges.

Top and bottom pivots

For pivot systems, door width is usually the tight opening width minus the planned clearance gaps. Door height is usually the tight opening height minus the top and bottom deductions required by the selected pivot family and mounting condition.

Wall-mount hinges

For wall-mount hinges, the hinge side deduction depends on the selected hinge and pin angle. The total door deduction then combines the hinge-side deduction with the desired strike-side gap and any bottom or top relationship controlled by the installation type.

Why one chart is never enough

The screenshots you attached show multiple charts because the right calculation changes with glass thickness, pivot family, pre-determined height versus floor-to-ceiling conditions, and whether the door is mounted to a wall, a header or fixed glass.
