Pin degrees and hinge series
Different hinge families offer different pivot-pin options. Those options affect how the door rests, how far the hinge side projects, and whether the door aligns with adjacent fixed glass.
Standard versus custom pins
Some hinge series offer a standard reversible pin, while others offer custom offset pins or adjustable pivot options. The exact options depend on the family and manufacturer. Always verify the published product sheet for the exact hinge being used.
Glass-to-glass caution
Your reference material warns against using more than a small offset—commonly more than 5°—in glass-to-glass hinge applications whenever a precise door-to-panel alignment is needed. The more the pin is offset, the more the hinge side of the glass projects out and the harder it becomes to keep the door aligned with the fixed panel.
When pivots may be better
If a larger angle offset is required, top and bottom pivot hinges are often the cleaner solution because they give more flexibility in how the door is positioned relative to the fixed panels and surrounding construction.
